Swedish cross-country stars fear the Trondheim weather will create a waxing nightmare during the upcoming World Championships at Granåsen. The challenging climate, characterized by damp Atlantic winds combined with cold air from Swedish mountains, complicates the waxing process for skis, significantly affecting performance and medal prospects.

Ebba Andersson has previously struggled with ski waxing at Trondheim, stating, 'I had too much grip last time. It's so unpredictable here. One year, the weather changed suddenly, and many Russian skiers were completely out of luck with their wax.' This sentiment was echoed by their head wax technician, Anders Svanebo, who mentioned the frequent temperature fluctuations around freezing make accuracy very challenging.

Andersson emphasized the importance of being able to test various ski setups in the local conditions to stay prepared. Jonna Sundling, another team member, also finds value in living in Trondheim, allowing her to frequently test skis under the changing conditions.

As the championship approaches, preparations are intensifying, with skiers aiming to bring multiple pairs of skis for testing in the variable weather expected during competition.
