SVT Expert Criticizes Norwegian Star's Behavior in the Final: ‘That is Not Okay’
Originally published in SVT Sport on February 27, 2025
SVT’s expert has sharply criticized the actions of Norwegian sprint star Kristine Stavås Skistad in the sprint final, where she made every effort to stop her competitor, Jonna Sundling. According to length skiing expert Anders Blomquist, Skistad’s tactics—attempting to physically impede Sundling—were excessive and crossed acceptable boundaries.
After the final, Skistad commented that she had tried everything she could, despite ultimately being defeated by Sundling. Sundling, who has begun to note similar trends in previous races, finished the race as a superior athlete.
The incident is part of the build-up to the 2025 World Championships in cross-country skiing, and it has reignited discussions about sportsmanship and fair play in high-level competition.
