SVT is set to broadcast a number of Swedish World Cup competitions in winter sports. From the 2026/2027 season, SVT will air events in cross‐country skiing, alpine skiing, ski cross and moguls. There is even the potential for the number of cross-country skiing World Cup races in Sweden to be increased to two per season.

According to Edvin Anger, the deal is excellent as many have longed to see these events return to SVT. In addition to the World Cup competitions in biathlon broadcast every season, Vinterstudion will now also show live competitions in the aforementioned disciplines.

The agreement means that audiences will once again be able to watch Swedish stars such as Frida Karlsson, William Poromaa, Sara Hector, Sandra Näslund and Walter Wallberg compete live from Vinterstudion. The Swedish Ski Federation, represented by Pernilla Bonde, expressed satisfaction with the deal, highlighting that the rich tradition of winter sports in Sweden will now be more accessible on SVT. Moreover, SVT will also broadcast cross‐country skiing and alpine events from the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina in February 2026, and they hold the broadcast rights for the 2030 Winter Olympics as well.

This new package strengthens SVT’s winter sports offering by combining competitions from several disciplines and ensuring that high-quality, international-level events in Nordic skiing are available to Swedish viewers.
