Kristine Stavås Skistad, a star in cross-country skiing, had an emergency stomach surgery last Friday and will be unavailable for competitions for the time being. According to the national team doctor Ove Feragen, the procedure was necessary and took place rather quickly.

"Kristine underwent a stomach operation on Friday. She is out for an indefinite period regarding competition," Feragen stated. Skistad will need to focus on recovery and rehabilitation and will miss the upcoming events, including Beitostølen and Ruka. Feragen mentioned that they will evaluate her potential return on an ongoing basis.

When asked about the cause of the stomach issue, Feragen replied that he could not provide specific details, noting only that the surgery was urgent. He indicated that this situation would impose some initial training limitations. However, Skistad remains optimistic about returning to normal training soon, with a focus on the World Championship ahead, despite missing the beginning races of the season.
