Ski-VM: Her bryter Heidi Weng sammen etter NRK-spørsmål: – Begynte å gråte

Heidi Weng became emotional during a press conference when responding to a question from NRK regarding the concussion suffered by Swedish skier Linn Svahn.

Weng remarked, "I must admit, I started to cry. I probably will again now." This emotional response came after the shocking news that Svahn would miss the entire Ski World Championships due to her injury.

The team doctor for the Swedish squad, Rickard Noberius, explained that they are following a strict concussion protocol after Svahn's injury.

Heidi Weng reflected on her own difficulties with concussion recovery and expressed sympathy for Svahn, urging her to be careful during her recovery. "I hope she takes it slow in the beginning. I do not wish this on anyone. I had looked forward to seeing Linn at the start line. Thank you for me," she stated, visibly shaken.

Weng is scheduled to compete in the women's 20 km freestyle race on Sunday, alongside teammates Astrid Øyre Slind and Therese Johaug. They hope to make a strong showing at the championships despite the challenges faced.

The event highlights the impact of injuries in elite sports, underlining the importance of safety protocols and recovery time for athletes.
