Ski Icon Leaves Future Open
Therese Johaug is seeking more time to consider her future after a long and eventful season. Although named to Norway's World Cup team for the upcoming Olympic season, Johaug remains uncertain about continuing her storied career.
“I am tired after a long and eventful season,” Johaug stated. “I feel that I am not yet ready to make a decision about my future.” Thus, she has requested a postponement on her decision-making.
There is no deadline according to the federation.
Despite her uncertainties, both the Norwegian royal family and her husband, Nils Jakob Hoff, hope she will pursue her fourth Olympics. Johaug returned to competition last season after a maternity break but fell short of gold at the home World Championships in Trondheim, where she managed to win three silvers and one bronze.
After previously stating she was “99 percent” sure of retiring, Johaug hinted that one last season might still be possible.
