Sjur Røthe Bids Farewell to World Cup After 15 Years

After an illustrious career spanning 15 years, Sjur Røthe has made the poignant decision to retire from World Cup competition, announcing that the 50 km race in Holmenkollen was his final outing as a professional athlete.

Making his World Cup debut in Trondheim in 2009, Røthe has since graced the tracks with 218 World Cup starts, achieving 28 podium finishes and securing 6 victories. His remarkable journey has been marked by numerous highlights, including a standout performance at the Seefeld World Championships. There, he claimed two gold medals and a bronze, triumphing in the relay alongside his teammates and winning his only individual gold in the 30 km skiathlon.

Reflecting on his career, Røthe shared on Instagram, "Thirteen years with the national cross-country team have given me much more than I could have imagined. It’s been a rollercoaster ride, filled with challenges and incredible moments spent with my best friends."

Røthe's 15-year tenure in the World Cup is a significant milestone, filled with remarkable accomplishments.
