Selene Rossi, competing in the youth world championships, finished as Finland’s best woman by placing 11th in the 10 km freestyle interval start race. She was more than one and a half minutes behind Norwegian winner Milla Grosberghaugen Andreassen, who led the race. German Anna Endress claimed second place and Canadian Alison Mackie third.
In the race, Silva Kemppi finished 21st while Assi Hakala ended up 33rd, and Olivia Puranen did not complete the race. On the men's side, the Finnish competitors finished far behind; Anton Kemppi was the best with 19th place, followed by Jimi Klemettinen in 20th, Pyry Riissanen in 23rd, and Leevi Passila in 40th.
Elsewhere in the championships, Norwegian Lars Heggen continued his strong form on the Italian Schilpario tracks by winning the men's race with a 26.7-second gap over Italy’s Davide Negroni, and German Jakob Elias Moch took third place. Heggen had already secured a silver in a classic technique sprint earlier in the week and won gold in a 20 km mass start race.
The youth world championship events will continue on Saturday in Italian Schilpario with an under-23 10 km freestyle interval start race, and the championships will conclude on Sunday with relay races.
