This winter, the World Cup will see the continued exclusion of Russian and Belarusian skiers, a decision reaffirmed during the International Ski Federation's meeting held in Switzerland on Friday.
Lars Öberg, the head of cross-country skiing at the Swedish Ski Federation, expressed support for the ban, stating to Expressen, "It feels good; Sweden belongs to the part of FIS that truly supports the continuation of the ban as long as nothing has changed in Ukraine."
Since the onset of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, athletes hailing from Russia and Belarus have faced an outright ban from all international skiing events. Concerns have emerged recently regarding the potential for these athletes to re-enter competitions, especially following their participation in the recent Paris Olympics.
