Tampere is initiating an important renovation project for its ski and outdoor trails in Kauppi and Lamminpää, with the work set to take place over the next few weeks. As part of this effort, any dead trees that pose a risk of falling onto the Kauppi-Niihama route will be removed. This renovation plan has received approval from the Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport, and the Environment and also includes enhancements to the Soukonvuori nature reserve area.

While some of the felled trees will be left on the ground as decaying wood to support biodiversity, others will be transformed into artful stumps designed to maintain ecological balance.

The renovation work kicks off this week and is anticipated to last around three weeks. During this period, access to the trails will be restricted to ensure the safety of all visitors.

In Lamminpää, preparations for the upcoming ski season are underway as the trails undergo widening and resurfacing. This work commenced today and is expected to last approximately a month. Portions of the trails will be closed throughout this process, redirecting outdoor enthusiasts to alternative paths. Users are encouraged to be vigilant and exercise caution while navigating the area.
