Petter Northug finds the speculation about his possible participation in the ski World Championships in Trondheim amusing. He wakes up daily to messages inquiring about his plans for the World Championships, but Northug insists that it is nearly impossible for him to qualify.
He expresses surprise at the increased interest surrounding him, especially since it has led some foreign competitors to believe he is aiming for a spot at the championship on home soil. Northug clarifies, "I say it as it is - it's almost hopeless to qualify. But it seems that message doesn't get through," when asked about the rumors.
At 38, Northug has other ambitions for this season. He envisions watching from the sidelines in Trondheim while setting his sights on the Vasaloppet race, stating that achieving success there is his dream. Additionally, he plans to compete in the national opening of the cross-country skiing season at Beitostølen later this month.
