Astrid Øyre Slind claimed the victory in the 20 kilometer mass start event of the cross-country skiing World Cup held in the Swiss Engadin region. Nora Sanness secured a strong second place, contributing to a successful day for the Norwegian team.

Slind took the lead shortly after the halfway mark, with only her teammate Sanness able to keep pace as they broke away from the rest of the field. Slind’s strong tempo led to a significant gap, allowing her to control the race towards the finish where she showcased her strength to take her fourth World Cup title.

Just a week prior, Slind finished in fourth place in a similar race in Les Rousses, France, where Frida Karlsson took the top spot.

Earlier on Sunday, the men’s side saw a dominant performance from Norway as Johannes Høsflot Klæbo captured another victory in the same distance, rounding out a successful weekend for Norwegian cross-country skiing.

The World Cup continues next weekend in Cogne, Italy, with the prestigious World Championships set to take place in Granåsen from February 26 to March 9. The final spot on the women's team will be open until after the World Cup round in Cogne in early February.
