Harald Østberg Amundsen delivered a dominating performance, winning the individual 20-kilometer freestyle race in the Tour de Ski.
Competing in Italy, Amundsen took the lead nearly from the start and maintained his advantage throughout the race.
- "A monster race by Østberg Amundsen," exclaimed Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug.
Amundsen faced tougher competition from Krüger and Andrew Musgrave but ultimately proved unbeatable, finishing with a significant lead. Musgrave secured third place.
- "I was incredibly motivated today. I went hard from the start, took a risk, and opened strongly. It hurt throughout, especially my back and legs, but I pushed through" he said after the race.
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo struggled with pacing early on, finishing fifth after being 46.4 seconds behind the winner.
Looking ahead, a critical 15-kilometer pursuit race in classic style awaits, adding to the suspense of who will claim victory in the tour this year, with Østberg Amundsen being the defending champion and in great form following this latest win.
The Tour de Ski will continue to test both the physical and mental strengths of the competitors as they move to the next venues.
