One Month to Vasaloppet – Skiers Chased a Better Starting Position in Åsarna
Originally published in SVT Nyheter on February 01, 2025
With one month left until Vasaloppet, a seeding race was organized on Saturday in Åsarna. This preliminary race – also known as seeding – gives Vasaloppet skiers a chance to qualify for a more advantageous position at the start line on the main race day in early March.
Over 170 competitors lined up at the starting line to tackle a 46-kilometer course winding through the forests of Berg. While last year’s race was marked by harsh winds and blowing snow, this year the race conditions proved difficult to improve, adding an extra layer of challenge for the athletes.
