Nove Mesto Steps Back from Hosting Cross-Country World Cup Event
Originally published in FIS on August 21, 2024
In a recent announcement, the Czech Ski Association has officially withdrawn from hosting the COOP FIS Cross-Country World Cup event in Nove Mesto na Morave, originally scheduled for January 31 to February 2, 2025. The decision stems from economic challenges that have become increasingly pressing for the association.
Currently, the FIS Cross-Country team is exploring alternative options for the event, collaborating closely with national ski associations and local organizers to identify potential substitutes.
A resolution to address this change will be presented during the upcoming FIS Autumn Meetings, which are set to take place from September 24 to 27. During these discussions, members of the World Cup & Continental Cup Sub-Committee and the Cross-Country Committee will evaluate the situation, and any decision made will require the approval of the FIS Council.
