Norway selects skiers for Trondheim World Championships – Gold anchor from Planica must provide more proof

Norway has selected 11 female and 10 male skiers for the Trondheim World Championships, but the team will be finalized after the upcoming World Cup weekends in Engadin and Cogne. Team leader Ulf Morten Aune stated on the federation's website that Norway aims to be the best skiing nation in the home championships.

Among the notable names left out of the initial selections is Anne Kjersti Kalvå, who is seeking to prove herself in the upcoming World Cups. In the previous season’s World Championships in Planica, Kalvå anchored the Norwegian women's team to a relay gold. However, she has yet to compete in any World Cups this season, and her teammate Ane Appelkvist Stenseth has reached the semi-finals in sprint this season.

The men’s selections saw several notable absences, including Emil Iversen, as well as Iver Tildheim Andersen, who won the 10 km free race in Les Rousses, and Henrik Dönnestad, last year’s Norwegian champion in 10 km classical ski.

Pål Golberg, as the defending champion, secured his spot for the 50 km event, while Johannes Hösflot Kläbo earns a place as the reigning champion in the sprint event. Simen Hegstad Krüger will also compete in both the 10 km and combined events.
