Iivo Niskanen secured a dominating victory in the World Cup opening race, finishing 12.5 seconds ahead of Norway’s Harald Østberg Amundsen, who expressed great satisfaction with his performance.
Niskanen's win marked his first World Cup victory in over a thousand days, with his last triumph coming in February 2022 at Lahti.
After crossing the finish line, Niskanen celebrated with a mic drop gesture, contrasting starkly with his reaction last year when he threw his poles in frustration after losing a close race.
Niskanen noted, "I felt in control throughout the race and realized I would win if I avoided problems towards the end."
Last year's champion, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, finished third and remarked on Niskanen's celebratory style, indicating it will serve as inspiration leading into the upcoming World Championships.
