Norwegian cross-country Queen Therese Johaug narrowly misses gold at the home World Championships in Trondheim, once again taking silver in the women's 10 km event.

Johaug was again edged out by Sweden's Ebba Andersson, who won gold, leaving the 36-year-old Johaug still waiting for her first title in Trondheim, marking her 15th championship overall.

The race unfolded dramatically, with Hansson finishing just 1.3 seconds ahead of Johaug, and Katharina Hennig of Germany making an impressive seventh-place finish, just under 30 seconds behind the leader. Hennig, who has faced health issues this season, expressed satisfaction with her performance and is now setting her sights on the relay event on Friday, which team coach Peter Schlickenrieder labeled as the "only realistic medal chance".

In the meantime, Victoria Carl and Pia Fink also put in commendable performances, placing 14th and 11th, respectively.

Johaug, visibly disappointed after another silver, stated, "I’m truly disappointed. When you fight so hard for gold and come so close…" before catching herself and laughing it off. "I did my best, but I wasn't strong enough in the end." This race adds another chapter to the saga of her comeback after a two-year hiatus, showcasing her determination to reclaim her title.
