Klæbo's four stage victories and triumphs in both the sprint and overall competitions resulted in over one million kroner in prize money alone. Each stage victory contributed 3,000 Swiss francs (approximately 37,500 kroner), while the sprint competition victory was awarded 75,000 kroner.
This gives Klæbo a commendable start to the new year financially, adding to a season that has netted him over two million kroner from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). He also likely has additional income through personal sponsorships and partnerships.
700,000 lost for Krüger
Therese Johaug performed equally well, winning the Tour overall and clinching the climbing competition as well. She accrued 103,000 Swiss francs, just 1,000 less than Klæbo, totaling around 1.3 million kroner.
So far this season, Johaug is nearing two million in FIS prize money, significantly aided by her sponsorship deals.
Astrid Øyre Slind finished second in the Tour de Ski, earning nearly 700,000 kroner. Meanwhile, Simen Hegstad Krüger won the final stage in Val di Fiemme but suffered a fall during the penultimate stage, which cost him what would have potentially been a secured second place worth about 700,000 kroner.
"Yes, we’re talking about significant amounts of money. It would have meant a lot for me. However, I don't dwell on it too much during the races. I consider all prize money that comes in as a bonus – there’s no point in being bitter about it," Krüger remarked.
Investment for Moseby
Håvard Moseby was the second best paid Norwegian man during the Tour de Ski, taking home around 260,000 kroner for his fifth-place finish overall.
On the women's side, Heidi Weng earned 315,000 kroner from her performances, totaling over 660,000 kroner this season.
The next major focus for the cross-country skiing stars is the Norwegian Championships in Hamar later in January, followed by the World Championships in Trondheim at the end of February into March.
