Markus Kasanen Wins Universiade Gold
Finland celebrated a double medal win in the men's 20 kilometers classical race at the Winter Universiade, with Markus Kasanen taking gold and Nico Bennert securing bronze. Kasanen expressed his determination, stating that the 20 kilometers event was one of his key races. On the day of the race, despite feeling uncertain and a bit fatigued, he found his pace and attributed his success to excellent skis on the day of competition.
In the women's 20 kilometers event, Finnish competitors showed strong performances but did not medal, with Hanna Ray finishing fourth and Elsa Torvinen coming in fifth. Both were in contention for medals for much of the race, while Iida Vuollet took the tenth spot in the final standings.
