Lack of Snow Affects Swedish Ski Team's Testing Schedule
Due to a severe lack of snow and poor conditions in Vålådalen, members of the Swedish cross-country skiing team have had to leave their training camp early, resulting in the cancellation of some critical ski tests. According to Anders Svanebo, the head of the waxing team, testing was feasible in the mornings but became impossible in the afternoons due to excess sawdust from melting snow, preventing any skiing tests.
As temperatures rose, the three decimeters of snow previously covering the area disappeared quickly, compounded by the lack of frost in the ground. Despite these challenges, Svanebo stays optimistic about their progress, stating, "It is what it is; we cannot directly influence the weather, but we have managed to achieve what we wanted during our training."
The waxing team is set to leave Vålådalen to join the athletes in Bruksvallarna next week, where preparations will continue.
