Kymenlaakson reserviläispiiri vei voiton Puolustusvoimien perinteisessä hiihtokisassa
The Kymenlaakso reserve district won the Maasotakoulu and Defense Forces' traditional skiing competition, Oltermanni hiihto. The victory was secured by the team anchor, Akseli Virtanen, who crossed the finish line shortly after noon on Thursday, March 11.
The competition kicked off with a two-day journey starting from Nyrhilä towards South Karelia, where the finish line was located at the Maasotakoulu.
Participating teams included eight teams from military educational units in the A-series, along with a representative team from the National Defense University and thirteen reserve teams in the B-series, including a team from South Karelia. Each team consisted of a leader, a deputy leader, ten skiers, a maintenance person, and drivers.
This year, the event involved ski and running segments due to poor snow conditions hindering skiing in some areas.
The competition began on March 11, where teams planned their routes upon receiving the details in the evening, starting their scouting on Wednesday morning before the event commenced at 7 PM.
