Krista Pärmäkoski Excluded from Finland's A-Team for Cross-Country Skiing

Sources indicate that Krista Pärmäkoski will not be included in the Finnish cross-country ski team's roster, which is set to be announced by the coaching staff later this week. This decision comes at her own discretion.
The accomplished athlete is currently contemplating her professional future and has not yet made a definite choice about pursuing the Trondheim World Championships in 2025 or the Milan Olympics in 2026. Throughout May, she has been training consistently in Kuortane, but has kept her long-term goals under wraps.
Recent financial reports have revealed that all Nordic skiing teams are facing budget cuts, forcing athletes to tap into their personal finances to support their training needs. Notably, Pärmäkoski last trained independently of the national team back in 2019.
Her most recent triumph came when she clinched a World Cup victory in Lahti this past March, marking her first win in nearly six years, a success that has reinvigorated her motivation to continue competing.
Should Pärmäkoski choose to extend her competitive career, her potential return to the A-team will largely hinge on the Finnish Ski Association's budgetary flexibility. The skiing community would undoubtedly find her retirement surprising.
