Johannes Klaebo wins his first world title in distance on skiathlon in Trondheim, his 11th total
Johannes Klaebo added another gold medal to his collection this Saturday in Trondheim. After winning the sprint on Thursday, the Norwegian champion claimed victory in the skiathlon at the World Championships, finishing ahead of fellow Norwegians Martin Nyenget and Harald Amundsen.
This victory brought his total to eleven titles. Consistently in the lead during the race, Klaebo excelled in the final stretch, showcasing his exceptional gliding skills as he surged ahead, crossing the finish line 1.4 seconds ahead of Nyenget, who held second place, and Amundsen who finished third, all three falling at the line in their effort to join the podium.
This performance sets up great expectations for the upcoming relay events for the Norwegian team as well, as the French competitors Mathis Desloges (6th) and Hugo Lapalus (11th) also made impressive showings.
