Klæbo's Winning Streak Broken – Iivo Niskanen Wins World Championship Trial in Falun

Iivo Niskanen and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo engaged in a fierce duel over the 10km classical race during the Falun World Cup event. Niskanen led for most of the race, but Klæbo, who started later, mounted a late challenge. In the end, Niskanen finished 12.9 seconds ahead, securing his second consecutive victory in the 10km classic this season while bringing an end to Klæbo’s impressive winning streak.

The race was seen as a vital World Championship trial, with the upcoming event in Granåsen just weeks away. Norway has already secured five starting positions for the championships. Notable names in the Norwegian team include reigning champion Simen Hegstad Krüger, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, Harald Østberg Amundsen, and Erik Valnes – all of whom are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming competition. Klæbo, who had recently been sidelined by illness during a planned training camp in Davos, now appears to be regaining his top form despite the setback.
