Johannes Høsflot Klæbo met with the press before what he describes as the most important season of his career, as he prepares for the upcoming competitions including the World Championships at home. During the press conference, Klæbo was asked about various topics, including his form, expectations for the World Championships, and the declining popularity of cross-country skiing.

He addressed a specific incident regarding an NRK report featuring himself and French skier Lucas Chanavat, in which he made comments that sparked some controversy. Klæbo explained that his comments were taken out of context and elaborated that he genuinely wishes the best for his fellow competitors, including Chanavat.

He also mentioned how his coach reacted to the report. ‘Arild (Monsen) got a bit angry, but I told him the same thing I said to you now: the answer was cut off. He should have understood that, but he does now, so that’s fine,’ Klæbo said with a knowing smile.

Klæbo concluded by sharing that he was only trying to give a friendly response and that he hopes everyone on his team performs well, emphasizing the camaraderie among the athletes.
