Johannes Høsflot Klæbo was in complete control from start to finish during Saturday's sprint in Ruka. He consistently excelled in the prolog, quarterfinals, and semifinals, eventually crushing the entire field in the final race. Klæbo crossed the finish line in solitary majesty.
– Now there is a class difference as so many times before, exclaimed Viaplay commentator Jørn Sundby.
There was no doubt in the world about who the strongest sprinter was today. It was a sheer display of power, continued Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug.
Thus, the Trøndelag native celebrated his 85th World Cup victory individually. It was also his 50th World Cup win in sprinting.
Klæbo had a somewhat disappointing 10-kilometer race on Friday, but he made a strong comeback in the sprint event.
– That felt good. I was eager for revenge after yesterday. My body felt okay, but it was not a good day yesterday. I got frustrated, so I wanted to do everything I could to go fast today, Klæbo told Viaplay.
His compatriot Erik Valnes was the closest competitor, finishing second, while Finnish Lauri Vuorinen took third place.
