Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, the leading male cross-country skier in the World Cup, is returning to competition this weekend in Falun, Sweden. After last racing in late January in Switzerland’s Engadin, he missed Italy’s events at Cogna to focus on training – although his high-ranking training camp in Switzerland was interrupted by illness.
Norwegian star Therese Johaug is also making her return to the World Cup in Falun. She last competed during the Norwegian championships in mid-January and has not been seen on the women’s World Cup circuit since her victory in the Tour de Ski on January 5.
The Falun event is scheduled as the final World Cup meet before the FIS Nordic World Championships in Trondheim, which begin on February 26. Competitors will race using traditional techniques, with sprint events on Friday, a 10-kilometer race on Saturday, and a 20-kilometer free mass start on Sunday. The Norwegian Ski Federation announced their World Cup team selection on Monday via their official website.
