Kerttu Niskanen made an interesting revelation about her top speed during her race against German star Victoria Carl at the Oloksen Tykkikisat. Niskanen was actually much closer to Carl at the finish than the TV footage revealed.

Niskanen finished second behind Carl in the women’s 10km free technique race, ultimately finishing 9.1 seconds off Carl's time. Niskanen stated, "I was able to compete well, and it was a tight race. Just at the last hill, I was three seconds behind. It felt good to ski competitively like that."

This performance demonstrated Niskanen's abilities in the free technique, a contrast to her established prowess in the classic technique. Niskanen noted that conditions favored Carl significantly, and while Carl proved to be the day’s top competitor, it was rewarding for Niskanen to see her own progress.

Another notable performance came from Anne Kyllönen, securing the fifth position, while Jasmin Kähärä finished eighth amidst strong competition. Overall, the event showcased impressive athleticism and close races, indicating a promising season ahead for Niskanen and her competitors.
