Swedish cross-country skier Jonna Sundling delivered a stunning performance in Trondheim to win gold at the World Championships, describing the victory as “fantastic.”

The duel between Sundling and the home favorite Kristine Stavås Skistad had been building all day. In the final uphill section, Sundling found an opening and surged ahead, securing the sprint gold in a commanding fashion. “It feels fantastic and I just did what I normally do – and it worked well,” she told SVT Sport.

The event, held at Granåsen in Trondheim, saw 20,000 fans roaring in support, with high-profile figures such as King Carl XVI Gustaf, Social Minister Jakob Forssmed, and members of the Norwegian royal family in attendance. Sundling’s victory marked her fourth consecutive major championship title – three at the World Championships and one from Olympic competition. While Skistad managed to hold on for silver and Nadine Fähndrich claimed bronze, Sundling’s relentless pace and tactical brilliance ensured she left her rivals behind throughout the competition.
