Jonna Sundling on the podium again – third in the mass start

Jonna Sundling exhibited a remarkable performance as she claimed the third position in the 20 km mass start event, part of the Cross-Country World Cup weekend in Engadin, Switzerland. The event was largely dominated by the Norwegian duo, Astrid Øyre Slind and Nora Sæten, who exited the competition early to battle for the top spot. Slind ultimately emerged victorious, marking her fourth win of the World Cup season.

Sundling initially trailed behind during the race, but she made a move at the crucial moment, securing her spot on the podium. "I thought to myself that if I was still feeling good as we approached the stadium, there was a good chance for a solid finish. But competing at 1,800 meters above sea level still posed a challenge, and I had to be mindful of how my body would react to a two-kilometer race," Sundling commented.

After the race, there were nerves regarding her finish, as news broke that a jury was investigating her for potential obstruction. Fortunately, after a brief period of uncertainty, Sundling received confirmation that she would only serve a penalty in the form of a yellow card rather than being disqualified, thus maintaining her third-place standings.

She reflected positively on her performance, stating, "Good form, great skis. I look forward to continuing to compete in the upcoming races."

In addition to Sundling's success, other Swedish competitors also partook in the race, with notable finishes including Moa Ilar in 9th, Emma Ribom in 11th, and Elina Rönnlund in 28th.
