The lost World Championship gold was quickly forgotten when Therese Johaug saw the photo of her daughter cheering from her father Nils Jakob's shoulders during the competition. Johaug expressed how much she missed her daughter, especially after being apart from her for four weeks leading up to the championship at home in Granåsen.

In a heartfelt moment during the interview, she said, "I haven’t seen my little girl in four weeks, so I get emotional just looking at that. Mammahjertet!"

Despite finishing second in the race and narrowly missing out on gold, Johaug highlighted her satisfaction with the performance, acknowledging how close she was to winning. "When I crossed the finish line, I was a bit overwhelmed. It hit me how close I was to that gold medal. Now I'm starting to tear up, but I’m really satisfied with my run; there’s nothing I would have done differently. It’s just a bit bittersweet knowing it was a mere centimeter away from gold," she told NRK.

The competition was intense, with several mishaps occurring during the race including Astrid Øyre Slind losing a ski during the exchange, further emphasizing the drama of the event. Johaug was in a tight race with Swedish title defender Ebba Andersson, who ultimately won by a razor-thin margin of 0.006 seconds.

Therese Johaug's journey is sure to resonate with her fans, as she balances intense competition with her role as a mother, all the while continuing to push for success in the world of cross-country skiing.
