Johannes Kläbo, one of the top names in cross-country skiing, was training at a high-altitude camp in Pontresina, Switzerland (at 1,800 meters) when symptoms of a cold forced him to end his stay prematurely. He had been training for two weeks before illness set in, leading to his early return to his home base in Trondheim.

Kläbo, who currently leads both the overall World Cup standings and the sprint cup, was expected to continue his training in Switzerland for an additional week. His participation in the Falun World Cup event from February 14–16 is critical, as it precedes the upcoming World Championships. According to his media assistant Lasse Gimnes, Kläbo is making a swift return to training and is expected to recover soon.

Norwegian TV2 expert Soleng Skinstad noted that Kläbo has previously experienced setbacks after bouts of illness, expressing hope that this time will be no different and that he will soon be able to compete at the highest level again.
