Finnish skier Johanna Matintalo has updated her condition on Instagram, revealing a calf tear. She will not participate in the upcoming World Cups scheduled for the next few weeks.
Matintalo's rehabilitation plan is set up so that if everything goes well, she aims to return at the latest in Falun during the last World Cup before the World Championships. She mentioned, "It hasn't been the preparation I thought it would be, but despite the setbacks, I hope to be there healthy and in my best condition for the winter."
Matintalo previously struggled with calf issues before the start of the season. During the Tour de Ski, her leg cramped up right before the competition on New Year's Day. Although she managed to finish that day's race, she withdrew from the Tour before the final stage.
The World Championships in Trondheim will commence on February 26.
