Johanna Hagström Disqualified in the Quarterfinal

Swedish cross-country skier Johanna Hagström advanced to the semifinal in the sprint event in Cogne as a lucky loser after a fast quarterfinal heat in the World Cup. However, after all quarterfinals had been completed, it was confirmed that the 26-year-old had been disqualified due to receiving her second yellow card this season for a breach of the technical rules – specifically, for skating outside the allowed zone.

Hagström commented to SVT Sport, tearfully explaining, "I can only blame myself; I had a feeling I was skating a bit off in the zone." She added that she immediately recognized her error during the final sprint and that there was no need to review the footage. As a result of accumulating two yellow cards—the first being nullified and replaced with two new cards—the disqualification was enforced.

Following the incident, team management opted not to file a protest. In the subsequent semifinal, Maja Dahlqvist emerged victorious and has secured a place in the final, while teammates Märta Rosengren and Moa Lundlund ended up third and fourth in their respective quarterfinal heats.
