Johan Häggström's Failure – Misses Quarterfinal in Ruka
Johan Häggström had a disappointing day in the sprint qualifier in Ruka. He failed to advance to the quarterfinals, finishing 31st in the length prologue. This means that he has been eliminated, as only the top 30 athletes qualify for the next round. Finnish athlete Ville Ahonen secured the 30th position, beating Häggström by just three hundredths of a second.
"It’s really frustrating," Häggström told SVT Sport about his performance. "There are many moments I wonder, 'Why didn’t I do this or that better?' This isn’t what I hoped for today. I wanted to compete in multiple heats."
Another Swedish sprinter, Måns Skoglund, also failed to reach the quarterfinals, finishing in 44th place. Despite the setbacks for Häggström and Skoglund, four Swedish men advanced: Edvin Anger (15th), Marcus Grate (17th), Emil Danielsson (18th), and Oskar Svensson (25th).
Marcus Grate expressed his eagerness to showcase his skills, stating, "I’m excited to demonstrate what I can do. It’s been incredibly tight this year, and I feel there are seconds to be gained in this race."
The fastest of all was the Norwegian superstar Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, followed by Benjamin Moser from Austria and Finland’s Niilo Moilanen.
