Inkki Inola celebrates World Championship bronze – repeated Lauri Vuorinen's feat at the finish

Inkki Inola took the bronze medal at the World Championships in the men's para-sprint competition. The Finnish athlete made a remarkable final push to claim third place in the race.

The gold went to Sweden while the silver was awarded to the United States, with Inola finishing 12 seconds behind the winner.

Just last week, fellow Finnish sprinter Lauri Vuorinen spoke by phone after earning his sprint bronze. It was later revealed that he received congratulations from the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, who reached out to the recent medalist.

Inola also shared that he was in contact with his parents back home who had watched the race. "They were very proud and emotional about my success," he reflected.

This medal is Inola's second in his international competition career. "It has been tough these past weeks, so it truly feels rewarding. What a fantastic conclusion to the season!" he said.

This was the first time para-athletes competed in a sprint event at the world level alongside able-bodied competitors, marking a significant moment for inclusiveness in the sport.

Earlier this season, Inola also earned a bronze medal at Toblach, completing a 10 km classic event with fellow skier Artu Kaario. The World Championships in Trondheim have provided a fantastic atmosphere of skiing excitement that athletes like Inola have been able to share in this week.
