Injury-Plagued Swede Must Take Action Before Worlds: 'A Tough Load'

Calle Halfvarsson, a prominent profile in Swedish cross-country skiing, has revealed that he must sit out several races in order to take better care of his body in the lead-up to the World Championships in Trondheim. The veteran skier, who recently missed the opportunity to compete in the Swedish Championships in Borås, confirmed that he will not participate in the event.

Halfvarsson has been battling persistent back problems throughout the season. He explained that the intense schedule—marked by three consecutive World Cup weekends and extensive travel—has taken a severe toll on his back. Although he managed to return during the last three World Cup weekends, the cumulative load has left him needing significant treatment and recovery.

When asked about his prospects for the upcoming World Championships, Halfvarsson remained tight-lipped, stating that his plans for Trondheim are still under wraps. "It’s a secret," he said with a smile, indicating he is staying low on details regarding his potential participation.

This development adds to the challenges faced by the Swedish team as they prepare for a highly competitive championship season.
