Perttu Hyvärinen has expressed relief after what could have been a more serious injury, following his recent ankle twist during a training run. The accident occurred last Sunday during his evening jog, where he reported a legendary sprain of his ankle after a mere 30 minutes of running.

Despite the initial scare and the need for rehabilitation, Hyvärinen is already focusing on recovery. While he can perform classic skiing drills, he is currently unable to navigate turns on the snow.

"One ligament was torn and a couple of others were damaged. The MRI was unexpectedly reassuring as things could have been worse. Luckily, I won’t need to undergo surgery," Hyvärinen stated.

With the Start of the World Cup in Ruka rapid approaching next week, Hyvärinen acknowledges he would have been part of the Finnish team, but now he will miss these significant contests.

Training will continue at a pace focused on his recovery, including extensive roller skiing workouts within the garage in the meantime. For the upcoming season, he aims to participate in the Tour de Ski, but only if his recovery allows it.

Hyvärinen's recent performance saw him clinch his first World Cup victory last season during the Tour de Ski's 10-kilometer classic race in Toblach, Italy, which highlights his potential comeback aspirations.
