Tiril Udnes Weng, the 28-year-old Norwegian star, has experienced significant difficulties in her preparation for the World Championships that will take place in two months. She disclosed that she has been diagnosed with mononucleosis, which has hindered her training since the World Cup event in Lillehammer earlier this month.

In her communication to the media, Weng described her situation as moderately concerning. "I have not been feeling my best since the World Cup in Lillehammer, and I have now been diagnosed with kissing disease. Thankfully, I'm not extremely ill, so I hope to recover quickly," she shared in a text message to VG.

These health challenges have led to uncertainty regarding her ability to train properly, making the timing particularly unfortunate with the World Championships approaching. Weng is now in a race against time to ensure she is fit for the event, stating that she is hoping to participate in the Norwegian Championships mid-January as this could be critical for her qualification for the World Championships.

"I haven't given up on NM yet. However, I will listen to my doctors and the support team around me. First and foremost, I need to get healthy," she concluded.

As Weng grapples with her health, the path to the World Championships becomes increasingly complex, but she remains determined to return to competition as swiftly as possible.
