In Iisalmi, athletes will compete in the 20-kilometer traditional races and relays. Notably, Iivo Niskanen's name does not appear on the list of registered competitors for the individual race, although he plans to participate in the relay. He aims to compete with his teammate Kerttu Niskanen, who will also be racing in Iisalmi.
Niskanen recently withdrew from the MM competition due to an illness that affected his fitness, as he noted, "It is difficult to recover to a state where skiing feels controlled and relaxed. The condition does not improve with training when recovery is not adequate. Thankfully, I can focus on the Olympic winter ahead with the snow available here.”
The Finnish Cup's program for Iisalmi is as follows:
Saturday, March 29
- 1:00 PM Women, 20 km Classic
- 2:30 PM Men, 20 km Classic
Sunday, March 30
- 1:00 PM Women, 3 x 5 km Classic Relay
- 2:10 PM Men, 3 x 7.5 km Classic Relay
Broadcasting of the Iisalmi Finnish Cup competitions will be available live on TV2, Yle Areena, and the Yle application. After Iisalmi, the domestic skiing season continues with the SM weekend in Taivalkoski from April 4-6.
