Originally published in L'Équipe on February 14, 2024
Hugo Lapalus may have joined the competitive skiing world later than most, but he has quickly established himself as a standout member of the French cross-country ski team, particularly excelling in distance events. Renowned for his youthful energy and leadership qualities, Lapalus not only excels on the slopes but also uplifts his teammates’ spirits.
On January 7, during the challenging ascents at Alpe Cermis, Lapalus achieved a significant milestone by securing his first World Cup podium, finishing in third place overall during the Tour de Ski. This achievement was made even more memorable thanks to the support of his close friends, including Jules Lapierre, who clinched a victory of his own, and the enthusiastic members of "Team Farté," who cheered him on throughout the race.
