Heidi Weng narrowly outclassed Therese Johaug in the women's 10 km freestyle race on Sunday. Weng finished 0.6 seconds ahead of Johaug, marking a remarkable turnaround after losing to her by 40 seconds the previous day.

Weng, who had previously struggled with her technique during the race, expressed her excitement at the win, noting that she sought revenge after Saturday's setback. "Who would have believed it, but it’s fantastic. I was looking for retribution after losing by 40 seconds to Johaug in the traditional race on Saturday," she said at the finish.

Johaug, a seasoned champion with four Olympic golds and 14 World Championship titles, acknowledged Weng’s strong performance. "It was tough, and skiing well technically was difficult. The skis felt slippery. But Heidi ran a fantastic race. I fought as hard as I could, but she ultimately prevailed," Johaug commented.

Johaug, now 36, returned to competitive skiing after a two-year hiatus, having given birth to her daughter, Kristin, in May of the previous year.

Overall, this Sunday’s race demonstrated Weng's competitive spirit and highlighted the ongoing rivalry between these two elite athletes in the world of cross-country skiing.
