Golberg Wins World Championship Test Race in Falun – Jenssen Suffers Dramatic Fall

Pål Golberg showed exceptional form in Falun by winning the 20‐kilometer race, which served as a test event ahead of the World Championships. Golberg, who is expected to participate in the 5 km race at the championships, finished strong in a sprint finish, leaving his competitors behind and celebrating a well-deserved victory. He commented, “This is the best race I’ve competed in this year, and now we are so close to making the World Championships team.”
In a dramatic turn during the same race, VM-ready Jan Thomas Jenssen had a severe fall after colliding with a Finnish competitor in the second lap. Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug described the fall as quite nasty, and Jenssen later explained that he lost his ski and even had to chase after it, suffering minor injuries in the process. Fortunately, Jenssen recovered enough to finish the race, reassuring his supporters that his fall did not cause any major harm.
Later in the race, a group of six skiers – including Andreas Fjorden Ree, Simen Hegstad Krüger, Golberg, Østberg Amundsen, Schumacher, and the Austrian Mika Vermeulen – broke away in the toughest terrain. Although Fjorden Ree pushed hard, he ultimately finished fourth, narrowly beaten by Østberg Amundsen, who bounced back after a subpar performance the previous day. Fjorden Ree now has a promising chance to compete in the 5 km event at the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim.
Additionally, noted skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo opted to skip Sunday’s race after finishing second in Saturday’s 10 km classical race so he can focus on preparations for the Granåsen World Championships. Swedish star Calle Halfvarsson also dropped out of the race to rest his back, which has been a recurrent issue this season.
