Frustrated Poromaa after fifth place: “Very frustrating”
In the final of the World Cup's 50km mass start, William Poromaa managed to keep pace with his competitors for nearly the entire race. However, as the Norwegian competitors made their move, he was left behind, ultimately finishing in fifth place. "It’s very frustrating to come this close but not be able to capitalize on the opportunity," Poromaa remarked following the event. The race was won by Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, who outpaced Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Simen Hegstad Krüger, securing a dominant victory for Norway in the season's closing event. This result puts Poromaa's season in perspective as he reflects on his performance against strong competition in the Norwegian ranks.
Overall, it was a bittersweet ending to the season for Poromaa, who indicated that while he is proud of his efforts, the longing to finish higher on the podium lingers. The script of the race was mostly written by the Norwegian skiers, further demonstrating their strength in the sport this season.
