French Skier's Rage Caught on Camera: "Ruined My Race"
Suddenly, the Frenchman swings wildly with his pole. Now, Jeremy Royer, 25, explains his anger in the midst of the Vasaloppet.
– It ruined my race, he tells SVT.
Unexpected Incident
After nearly two and a half hours of skiing, these unusual images unfolded. At a control point during the Vasaloppet in Oxberg, a skier dressed in pink, wearing the Ski Classics youth vest, suddenly swung his pole wildly.
It was Jeremy Royer who became furious, stating, "I'm not happy at all with my race. I wanted to do something great. But I lost... I was chasing the top group and then my pole broke."
In explaining his actions without specifically pointing fingers at anyone, Royer recounted, "I was about to step into the track when he also jumps in right over my pole."
Although Royer is a prominent skier under 26 in the whole Ski Classics series, he finished the race in 31st place, saying, "I had hoped for a better race. I always aim for top placements."
According to the results, Royer crossed the finish line as 31st.
