Finland’s overall medal haul from the European Youth Winter Olympic Festivals in Georgia amounted to four medals and 14 placement points, according to the Finnish Olympic Committee’s announcement after the end of the competitions on Sunday.
A total of 51 Finnish athletes competed in eight different sports. The girls’ ice hockey team claimed the silver medal, while cross-country skier Topias Vuorela won silver twice. Additionally, cross-country skier Kalle Tossavainen brought home a bronze medal from the competitions.
“Beyond the medals, placement points, national and personal records, the team also gains crucial experience from competing in multi-sport events, at an international level, and from being part of an athletic family,” summarized the Finnish team manager Sari Rimpiläinen in the press release.
The summer edition of this year’s EYOF competitions is set to be held in Skopje, North Macedonia, in July.
