The cross-country skiing World Cup will be held next weekend in Falun, Sweden. This event marks the final World Cup weekend before the World Championships in Trondheim. The program includes classic style sprints, a 10-kilometer interval race in classic technique, and a 20-kilometer mass start race in freestyle. Notably, the 10-kilometer race is the same distance as the event scheduled a few weeks later at the World Championships in Trondheim.

The Ski Association has selected nine female and twelve male skiers for the Falun World Cup. Among those chosen are Anne Kyllönen and Johanna Matintalo. Kyllönen, who has struggled with illnesses this season, recently won a sprint silver medal in Hakunila and claimed the 10-kilometer classic Finnish championship title in Imatra. Matintalo, meanwhile, has been sidelined from World Cup events owing to a leg injury after withdrawing from the Tour de Skin in Val di Fiemme, but she is now returning to competition.

Selected female skiers include Jasmi Joensuu, Oona Kettunen, Anne Kyllönen, Johanna Matintalo, Kerttu Niskanen, Vilma Nissinen, Krista Pärmäkoski, Vilma Ryytty, and Amanda Saari. The male squad features Ville Ahonen, Niko Anttola, Ristomatti Hakola, Perttu Hyvärinen, Remi Lindholm, Wiljam Mattila, Niilo Moilanen, Joni Mäki, Iivo Niskanen, Arsi Ruuskanen, Markus Vuorela, and Lauri Vuorinen.

In a related note, the ski jumping World Cup continues in Ljubno, Slovenia, with individual events for both men and women. For the women, Jenny Rautionaho is scheduled to compete, while the men’s entry includes Antti Aalto, Niko Kytösaho, Eetu Nousiainen, and Kasperi Valto.
