During the Falun World Cup women's 20 km mass start, Finnish cross-country skier Oona Kettunen suffered a hard fall at about two kilometers into the race in a fast, curving section. In the incident, her ski binding came off and her pole broke, forcing her to withdraw from the competition.

Kettunen later provided an update on her Instagram account, where she shared a picture of her arm in a cast. The 31-year-old athlete remarked that, on a positive note, the injury does not require surgical treatment and will remain in a cast for approximately four weeks.

In a post-accident interview with Viaplay, she mentioned experiencing significant pain in her palm, though at that time she was unsure if there was any more serious underlying damage to her arm.

This incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in high-speed international level cross-country skiing competitions.
