The Finnish Ski Federation has been struggling with its financial situation and has implemented adjustments to ensure the continuity of its core activities. According to the federation, savings and adjustment measures have helped them regain control economically.

The federation's interim director, Marleena Valtasola, stated, "We have a clear action plan and checkpoints to react quickly if unexpected situations arise."

Highlights for the 2024-25 season include the Nordic Ski World Championships in Trondheim, Norway, scheduled for late February to early March, and World Cup events in Kuusamo and Lahti, Finland.

The competition season starts at Ruka in late November, with the Salpauselka competitions taking place in late March. Athletes in cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic combined will face various challenges; however, the federation coordinators and coaches are actively seeking new solutions to ensure feasible operations.

Despite recent discussions surrounding the athletes' personal liability for costs, support from companies has emerged to mitigate the impact of these liabilities during the Ruka World Cup events. Current discussions within the federation's board Meeting also addressed this issue.

Chairperson Sirpa Korkatti emphasized the rising costs associated with elite sports and the financial difficulties anticipated over the coming season. She reiterated the federation's commitment to keeping the liabilities as low as possible while also fostering open discussions on this topic among different sports disciplines.
